Evaluating Consultation and Education Department

In reference to the Consultation and Education Department at Greenby Community Mental Health Center, this paper will offer a process evaluation measure and an outcome measure that will display the program's effectiveness and efficiency. This will cover the scope and purpose of the process evaluation and outcome evaluation measure and how they influence the design. The issues and challenges that may arise from the evaluation of the Greenby Community Mental Health Center will be discussed. Finally, the explanation of why the evaluation will be helpful to the Consultation and Education Department director.

The Consultation and Education Department at Greenby Community Mental Health Center director needs to gather information regarding the programs and services offered through the organization such as the staff used to offer the services, the expense of the staff to offer the services, and the demographics of the cliental using the services. The information can be gathered through observation, surveys, questionnaires, and service records. When all the information is gathered, the information is ready for analysis. During the analysis, certain questions should be answered regarding the services of the center. The questions need to be specific to the programs offered and if the services are effective for the center to maintain. According to the text, examples of the questions to ask would be, How many people are receiving the services?, are those receiving services the intended targets?, and are the people receiving the proper amount , type, and quality of services? (Lewis, Packard, & Lewis, 2007). The process evaluation is to determine what services were delivered by the center, to what demographic cliental, and determine if the services were performed as they were initiated to perform. When the process evaluation is complete, the outcome evaluation is the next step.

The outcome evaluation will show the program services offered at the center are effective an efficient for the center and carry their own weight for the center to continue to function to provide to the board of directors. The preventative programs offered in the schools are bringing in new cliental. The workshops are bringing in new clients for the counseling services. The program is built is stages. The preventative programs are bringing cliental into the workshops and the workshops are bringing in referrals for counseling. The program is growing because of the word of mouth in the community. There is no better marketing than the word of mouth.
