Introduction

This research paper is all about an in-depth managerial analysis of a selected organization. The organization/firm/company that is being studied is one in which the student have some interest in joining as an employee or associate.

The datas in this paper is limited to the general knowledge of the employee, leaders, high-rank officials of the company and also some references which the student is using.

1. What is the mission and strategic plan?

a. What is/are the reason(s) for the organization's existence? What type of business it is into?

The main reason for the organizations's existence is to provide technical assistance and consultancy for health care and hospital equipments throughout Mindanao. The type of business that it is into are hospital and biomedical services. While maintaining the health facilities of government hospitals throughout its area of responsibility, it also caters consultancy services to healthcare related workers and professionals.

b. Who are its customers/clients/constituents? Who are its competitors?

Its clients are government and/or private hospitals, laboratories, and clinics. Its competitors are the existing private biomedical companies like Biosite, Berovan, MCTC, Health Solutions, etc.

c. Define and Assess how the organization strategizes and how it positions itself in the competitive environment.

The organization has an advantage and disadvantage over its competitors. To point out, it has the lowest service charge when it caters to government hospitals. The organization was formed because, back in the early years, there was a need to provide such services at a low cost especially to rural health units and provincial hospitals. So basically, clients have the advantage of having low cost service for their equipments. However, the disadvantage is that government transactions are too slow that they tend to delay the purchasing and other operations. This is why, excellent client service is emphasized in each member of the organization.

d. What planning methodologies does the organization utilize?

There are two prevailing methodologies of planning that are being done in this organization. The first one is to be called open method where members are involved in brainstorming activities and set out to create their projected plans. After this, it will be discussed during a general meeting and open forum where a final plan is made. The second one is the plan and fit, where the officer-in-charge and head will device a plan and then edit these plans together with the members during a general meeting and forum.

2. How does the firm organize itself?

a. Describe the formal structure (vertical and horizontal relationships) as manifested in the organizational chart, including, if any, the informal entities.

The firm is a division of a government agency. Each of these position plays a vital role in the success of the whole organization. The Engineer V, Head of Division, deals with the major decision making. These includes the work and financial plans and implementations. The Engineer IV deals with the main workshop. He heads the local activities of the firm and works more closely with the section heads.

b. Describe the decision-making process.

The decision-making process of the organization can be described in two ways, higly collaborative and centralized. There are some supervisory decisions that does not necessarily have to solicit information from subordinates to avoid conflicting interests, likewise and most of the time, these decision makers tend to collaborate with their fellow members in coming up with a decision. Efficiency and follow-up, sometimes, tend to become a problem because these are two qualitites that are compromised due to overlapping or full schedule. But generally, the decision making process are quite good because supervisors are keen enough to follow their subordinates flow of work.

c. How does the organization adopt or manage environmental changes.

The organization have some deviced plans in anticipating and adopting the environmental changes. These has been used throughout its years of existence and still improving. Generally, committees are organized to check market fluctuations and current issues that may affect the organization's expected outputs. After this, devising plans and strategies takes place. The last one would be feedback and evaluation.

3. What is the style of leadership / management?

The leadership style of the superiors are somewhat a mixed up of everything in which, i think, correlates which each other's compatibility. The head of division is a task-oriented, melancholic leader. He wants everything done and saddens if something is wrong or being talked about. What i like with this leader is that he is intelligent and sees future loopholes before it comes at hand. The OICs and section heads are relationship-oriented, sanguine type of leaders. Though they have different styles and ways of doing things, they can get along well with each other. They are fun to be with and always checks the subordinates situation in and out of the workplace.

a. Who are the honarary and actual leaders?

The honarary and actual leaders are the head of division, the OIC, and the sections heads.

b. How do leaders provide clear direction towards the future of the organization?

These leaders provide clear direction by doing the job with the subordinates. They try to distribute themselves to their fellow employees while letting them know what is the vision and direction of what they are doing. They also emphasize future plans and goals so that everyone will have a common direction.

c. Assess the motivational environment / the morale, especially the rank-in-file.

Members in each sections are highly motivated to work, though sometimes discouraged by external factors. Moreover, these individuals generally try their best to earn a higher position and income so as to provide for their families and loved ones. The leaders motivate
