The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief is about a 12 year old boy named Percy Jackson who is dyslexic and has ADHD. He currently goes to Yancy Academy but will soon be expelled. It all started when he went on a field trip with his school to a museum and his algebra teacher took him to a room and turned into a Fury, which is an ancient Greek monster, and tried to attack him. Luckily his teacher Mr. Brunner gave him a pen that turns into a sword when you click it. Percy was able to fight off Mrs. Dodds and get back to his class, but when he got back no one seemed to know who Mrs. Dodds was. He told his best friend Grover, who is handicapped, but he acted like he didn't know what he was talking about.

Percy has never known his real father. He lives with his step father and his mother in a small apartment. His step father, Gabe Ugliano, always mistreats Percy and his mother. To get away from Gabe Percy's mother takes Percy on a vacation to a beach. While they are there Grover shows up and to Percy's surprise Grover is a Satyr. A satyr is half goat and half human. Grover brings them a message that the Kindly Ones are trying to kill him. Grover and his mother decide to take Percy to camp half-blood which is now the only safe place for Percy. On their way they run into a Minotaur. The Minotaur tries to kill and them and he does end up catching Percy's mom and sending her to the underworld but Grover and Percy get inside the camp safely.

At camp Half-Blood Percy meets other satyrs and kids who are sons or daughters of gods. He meets a girl named Annabeth who is the daughter of Athena who he soon becomes good friends with. He also meets a boy named Luke who teaches him how to sword fight and at the time appears to be a friend. No one really knows who Percy's father is but he would soon find out. The camp was playing a game of capture the flag and Percy was badly injured. Something was telling him to go to the water so he crawled into the river and his cuts started healing, this was when everyone knew he was the son of Poseidon because there was a green triton floating above his head.

Meanwhile someone has stolen Zeus's master bolt and Zeus is not happy, so if it is not returned soon there will be a great war among the gods. This is where Percy gets his quest, he must go to the west and try to find Zeus's master bolt and return it to Olympus safely. He decides to take Annabeth and Grover with him.

The quest begins with them meeting a monster named Medusa while looking for food. She feeds them and then tries to turn them into stone by taking a picture of them, because if you look into her eyes you turn into a stone statue. They defeat her by cutting off her head and they decide to keep it. They then get on a bus and meet Mrs. Dodds and two other Furies again. They barely escape the Furies but the bus blows up and everyone thinks that
