Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) established in 1916 is a company that specializes in designing, development, manufacture, assembling selling and support of commercial airplanes, military airplanes, satellites, missile defense, human space flight, and launch systems and services. It operates from Renton, Washington and provides maintenance and training of its airplanes to customers world-wide. Boeing Commercial Aircraft is a wholly owned subsidiary of an American multinational aerospace and defense corporation The Boeing Company. Boeing Commercial Airplanes also includes the assets of McDonnell Douglas Aircrafts which merged with Boeing in 1994.

Section 1.0 Strengths

With more than one dozen engineering, manufacturing and assembly facilities located throughout the US and Internationally Boeing is the largest aircraft manufacturer by revenue, orders and deliveries. Boeing accounts for a large percentage of US exports around the world, the US government has an interest in preserving the success of Boeing. If the company had financial trouble the US government may be expected to help with financial assistance. Additionally, when the US government is aboard, Boeing can help influence those discussions, because they have leverage over the economic success of the United States.

Boeing is a geographically diverse business and its revenue help in shielding the business from shocks in any one part of their business.

Reliable architecture of aircraft, and efficient design and production system is one of the main reasons why many countries and the biggest names in Airline industry order Boeing to manufacture their aircrafts. The engineers working in Boeing are also efficient, skilled and competent. They are also the reason for Boeing's success because without competent workforce no organization can survive. It also has the Strength of product diversification, Boeing has many businesses that help with product diversity: customer & commercial financing, dynamic space & defense programs and systems, commercial aircraft.

Section 2.0 Weaknesses

The corporate governance of Boeing is not good that's why the employees are not happy with its internal policies and procedures which is one of its weakness because when employees are not satisfied; their performance would also be affected which also affect the productivity of the workers as well as the productivity of the company as a whole.

Boeing is slow to react to the changes in market which results in losing market share to their rivals who cater more quickly to the changes in market.

Boeing gets many different components for their airplanes from numerous manufacturers, they have a difficult time keeping track of everything. This makes the supply chain liable to disruptions, and the whole production process would halt and the results would be disastrous for Boeing.

Section 3.0 Opportunities

The rapid advancement in technology brings advancement in aircraft as well. Through the advanced technology more light weight and fuel efficient aircrafts like the new Boeing 747-8 and 787 Dreamliner are created. Through the expansion of market it can increase its sale and capture more market share. As the demand for these aircrafts are increasing world wide, it would be a great opportunity for Boeing to expand its market.

Airplanes are complicated machines that rely on contentious maintenance and upgrades. This allows Boeing to gain extra service revenue. Additionally, many planes are modified to fit different uses form cargo to passengers and back.

As boeing also manufactures airplanes for defensive purposes, the rising defense spending in the US and worldwide due to terrorist acts should help boeing.

In Asia the customers for defense as well as commercial aircraft are increasing rapidly, Boeing has the great chance to capture Asian market before competitors reach there to capture that market. Through the innovation in products it can attract more customers and can increase its sales as well.
