Organizational behavior is a field of study that offers many great insights, values and investigates the impact of individuals, groups, and structure has on behavior with organizations. The sole purpose is to apply such knowledge towards improving an organization's effectiveness (Schermerhorn, Hunt and Osborn, 2008). Organizations use the study of human behavior in an organization to understand the organizational dynamics associated with interpersonal processes, group behavior and with the goal of improving the performance of the employees within the organization. The behavior of an organization is also an academic discipline studied by scientists, used by companies to understand individuals within the organization (Schermerhorn, Hunt, and Osborn, 2008). The scientific foundation of organizational behavior started more than a century ago to concentrate on the physical working conditions, principle administration and industrial engineering principles. This concentration changed later to include individual attitudes, group dynamics, and the relationship between managers and workers.

An organization with "strong cultures" operates with a clear vision of the future that is supported by the well-developed and well communicated beliefs and values (Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn, 2008). Companies use organizational behavior as a means to understand how people behavior; interact with each other and the thought process. The goal is to improve the company and overall employee performance. Organizational culture, organizational behavior, diversity and communication are the factors that influence the behavior and culture of an organization. In this paper I will discuss the components and influence of organizational behavior in today's environment.

Organizational culture is the collection of shared beliefs and values that develops within an organization and guides the behavior of its members. Organizations create their own culture in an effort to build culture within the company. The goal is to establish a culture that supports the vision and is well communicated and supportive. Organizations like my former employee the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office are performance based and highly motivated. The employees work hard to obtain their goals. The managers motivate employees of all cultures to do a better job and feel good about what they do.

Managing workforce diversity described in race, age, ethnicity, gender, physical ability and sexual orientation is a global concern. Workforce diversity is the primary factors that enhance a successful organization. When it comes to people and diversity, positive organizational cultures tap the talents, ideas, and creative potential of the members (Schermerhorn, Hunt & Osborn, 2008).
