Ethics is a moral code that governs our behavior. These principles help us identify what is wrong or right so that we may help us make acceptable choices. These rules and manners are not only required in real life communication but also when communicating through the computer (Rutkosky, Sequind, & Ruskosky, 2008).

People feel boundless to communicate at a different standard when doing so online then how they would face to face. This thoughtless freedom has lead to the induction of Netiquette which is an informal set of rules for online manners. These Netiquettes remind online chatters that they are still communicating with another person even though they are not physically present and they should treat that person with value. Any exchange of words done online should be the same message they would be willing to converse in person. Practicing good Netiquettes leads to good cyber citizenship (Rutkosky, Sequind, & Ruskosky, 2008).

There are several easy guidelines to follow that will help you communicate via email and, in turn, receive better replies. Most of our thought process or information that we relay stemmed from other sources other than our personal knowledge. This inevitable process makes it very important for us to identify and clarify information that is obtain from someone else avoiding plagiarism which happens when we portray these thoughts or words as our own. To avoid this problem, unintentionally or on purpose, you must document your sources and give credit to the originator of the information on a Works Cited page in your writing. You must document direct quotes, paraphrased information, and ideas from other sources or someone else's thoughts. However, common knowledge, information that can be verified in three or more general reference works, or words that are commonly used do not need to be documented. Style manuals can aid you in this process to make sure you accurately document your sources (Rutkosky, Sequind, & Ruskosky, 2008).

It is important that we follow Netiquette guidelines when we write online to show that we respect the person on the other end.
