This course is aimed at making use of the various concepts, models and techniques in management which had been covered in some earlier courses. it is an applied course in the sense that it involves the application of those concepts and sense that it involves the application of those concepts and models in management to the day-to-day management of various types of organizations for the purpose of achieving the objectives of the organizations most effectively and efficiently. Business policy is therfore aimed at attempting to fashion out how the various managment techniques could be put into specific use to the advantage of the users. these users could be put into spcific use to the advantage of the users. these users could be individuals, governments, social organizations, business firms.

The Characteristics of Strategic Decisions:

The Word 'strategy' and 'strategic' decisions' are typically associated with issues like these:

- The long-term direction of an Organization: - Long-term decisions about what sort of company it should be, and realizing these decisions would take plenty of time.

- The scope of an organization's activities: For Example, should the organization concentrate on one area of activity, or should it have many?

- Advantage for the organization over competition: - Advantage may be achieved in different ways and may also mean different things. for example, in the public sector, strategic advantage could be thought of as providing better values services than other providers, thus attracting support and funding from government.
