"Stay Golden" A well-known poem called Nothing Gold can stay by Robert Frost. Has many meanings, but what I think it means more than you think. In both books The Mississippi Trial and The Outsiders they both show meaning. Meaning that is found in Robert Frost's poem.

In the book The Mississippi Trial you see how a young boy named Hiram go to see his grandfather. He notices that people there are very opinionated on black and white. Meeting people along the way, he hears news of a boy he met named Emmitt. I feel that the poem by Robert Frost relates to this story. Saying that he should stay the way he is. By not caring about what the color of peoples skin is, instead by their own personality.

In the book The Outsiders two greasers Ponyboy and Johnny go through a lot. As Johnny was in the hospital he told his best friend Pony to stay golden. I believe that Johnny was telling Ponyboy to not be like the other greasers. Most greasers are rough and pick fights just for fun. Johnny was telling Pony to stay the way he is and not be like the other greasers.

Ponyboy and Hiram are alike they both are different from the people around them. People in both books are heart felt from what happened to their friends. I do think that Robert Frost's poem does have many meanings but the one I strongly believe in is that some people need to stay the way they are and not just blend in. Even if it is easier.
