World War 2

After the termination of World War 1, there were a few key factors in which aided in the start of World War 2: the rise of Hitler, the failure of the Treaty of Versailles, the League of Nations, and the appeasement between France and Britain. There were also so events that followed War World 1 that influenced the start of World War 2 as well: The Depression, The violation of the Munich Agreement and the invasion of Poland all lead up to the start of World War 1

The termination of World War 1 led to the Treaty of Versailles on June 28th 1919. The main reason for this treaty to be created was to end the war that was going on between Germany and the Allied Powers. Germany was not happy with the Treaty of Versailles but they had a choice either to sign the treaty and take the responsibilities or be attacked. The Treaty of Versailles blamed Germany for the start of the war, and created the War Guilt Clause, which made the Germans take the blame. After the war Germany had to pay for the all the damages that were caused by the war. Seeing as they were in economic troubles as the depression kicked in. Germany was too poor to be able to pay back the amount of money that the Treaty was asking them to pay back, which is one of the reasons Germany was not happy about the Treaty. Germany was also required to reduce their army down to around 100,000 men and they were not allowed to have tanks, or submarines. This also created the League of Nations.

The League of Nations was supposed to keep another war from happening again. Woodrow Wilson really wanted this League to take off and do what he wanted it to do., which was to keep the peace between countries and stop another war from ever starting. However the United States did not want to join the League of Nations. The United States was at a point where they did not want to get involved in any foreign alliances, or anything else for that matter in hopes that they could keep piece with the foreign countries. This was one of the League of Nations downfalls because if the most powerful nation doesn't want to join in, this is going to make other countries rethink joining. Germany was not allowed to join the League of Nations as part of the punishment against them for starting World War 1.

Germany in the 1920's was very poor due to the depression after the stock market crashed, and they were not thrilled with the Treaty of Versailles and the punishments that they had been given. The German people decided that they wanted to stand behind someone who was going to help them get out of their economic troubles, and the punishments that were made by the Treaty of Versailles. Adolf Hitler was the man that Germany was looking up to in the days leading to the Second World War.

On July 29, 1921 Hitler became the leader of the National Socialist Party also known as the Nazi Party. Later on Hitler was thrown in jail for his Beer Hall Putsch, in which he attempted to overthrow
