How Do You See the Pgsem Helping You in Your Goals?

How do you see the PGSEM helping you in your goals? (150 words)

As an analyst in the Client Engagement function at Oracle SSI, I want to grow into the

role of a Client Engagement Manager (CEM) to work on strategies for one or more

regions that we operate in and drive business development. Being a CEM involves

understanding the nuances of International Business, Negotiations, Global Economies &

Trends and a whole host of other competencies. These are best gained through a formal

MBA program. I wish to acquire the knowledge required to take up the role of a CEM

while gaining more experience in my function in the coming years and the PGSEM is the

best program for achieving this twin purpose.

I’m very passionate about Arts and Literature and want to contribute to them by entering

the Theatre Production space or the Publishing Arena. Knowledge acquired through the

PGSEM will help me achieve that too and in a structured manner.

How would the PGSEM classroom benefit by your presence? (150 words)

The PGSEM classroom will benefit from the learning that my varied interests have

brought me viz. the ability to analyze and articulate situations well through my diverse

writing; an understanding of public speaking through a Toastmasters certification; an

insight into group dynamics through Theatre and Basketball; using visual and verbal

media effectively through Photography and Copywriting and valuable insights gained

through travel and reading. The relevance of common management concepts could be

looked at in a different light by discussing the aforementioned.

From a professional perspective, my current role gives me an understanding of the

dynamics of Western Europe and cultural influence on business negotiations. My past

experience as a technical consultant gave me project and client-site experience. In

addition, being part of the Vision enablement team at Oracle SSI made me understand the

evolution of an organization. I can add value by sharing these insights with the class.

What are two major achievements in your career? (150 words)

In 2008-09, while helping our customers in Slovakia adopt the Euro as currency, we

faced an escalation from a customer about our solution requiring too many

customizations. There seemed to be some uncertainty about the effect of these

customizations. While onsite as a technical consultant, I leveraged my understanding of

the solution and my interpersonal skills to regain our customer’s trust by calmly and

clearly communicating at each stage what we were doing and what to expect from the

conversion. We returned with accolades after a successful go-live.
