It was a glorious morning, Sodapop and I was at the Parrot Island Waterpark yesterday and day-before yesterday. Because we won the Jackpot last month, Darry gave us some money and said that we can go anywhere for vacation. Today we concluded to rest then go to the park and the bookstore. About at dusk, we are browsing for books in the bookstore.

I saw the legendary writer Mrs.Beals when I was smirking at the book Man or Money? by Scrooge.E. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming and I wasn’t. There in front of me stood one of the Little Rock Nine that opened the gate for the African American society when discrimination was just the thing. I ran behind her to make sure she doesn’t go away. I called Mrs.Beals as she turned around.

“Who is that ?” she questioned.

“Hi, I am Ponyboy, call me Pony,” I introduced myself.

“Hi, I am Melba Beals, you can call me Melba,” she introduced herself.

“Back in my place … ” I started off telling my story.

I was really amazed at how close our stories to each other, how discriminated America is and the sole thing that I learned is that only rich white males get respect if America never changes.

“I wrote this memoir and could you try to publish it,” I asked her as I was giving her thick stack of papers

“When exactly did you write this Memoir ?” she asked.

“When I was in High School, ” I replied.

“Oh really??? ” she asked astonished.

We were talking for about an hour or so when Soda called me over. I told him that I am going to say my final goodbye.

“ It was nice meeting you and stay gold, Melba,” I told her

“Namaste and it was nice meeting you, too,” She said back.

Stunned by surprise I asked, “What do you mean by Namaste ?”

“Namaste means” she explained “ The god in me sees the god in you, ”

While I was driving back to my hotel, I thought about how the Little Rock Nine helped Melba be safe and how the Greasers helped me be though. Jhonny. Jhonny who gave up his life to save a few school children that he doesn’t even know. Jhonny told me how to be a man, he told me to be a man who cares about others more than money.Jhonny
