2. In the video, I observed the poor interpersonal relationship between Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton. The first example of their poor behavior is when Kevin Bacon is trying to explain to them that they are going to skip right out to the atmosphere and not be able to get back home; and Bill Paxton ask how does he know this and Kevin responded in a sarcastic tone that he could add. Their workplace incivility escalated as the video continued and it turned highly stressful when Bill is accusing Kevin of not doing his job correctly when he was reading the gauges and he stirred the tanks. In contrast, the interpersonal relationship between Tom Hanks and the other two characters is good and it serves as a source of stress reliever and social support. This is evident in the video when Tom and Bill are taking trying to come up with a reentry plan. Also, when Bill and Kevin start arguing Tom is the voice of reason in the shuttle and makes them calm down and focus on how they can get back home.

3. In chapter 8, interpersonal relations are discussed as part of work-related stressors. The majority of our lives are spent at work so having a good or bad working relationship with our coworkers and supervisors have a crucial impact on our organizational life. Poor relationships can become a source of stress. While good working relationships can help employees achieve personal and organizational goals (225). "Workplace incivility refers to rudeness, lack of regard for one another, and the violation of workplace norms for mutual respect" (225). Incivility can cause an increasing amount of stress on an employee and can even be a decision for changing jobs all together.

4. Throughout my 12 years in the Navy, I have had a many different interpersonal relationships. Some of those were not so great and very stressful in my life, but for the most part a lot exactly like the book says a source to help me cope with stressor and helped me achieve personal and professional goals. One very stressful situation I remember was a few years ago between my immediate supervisor and the boss above her. They would argue all the time on how things should be done and I would be stuck in the middle unsure of how I should really listen to. It was very stressful because if I did something one way the big boss would be upset and I didn't want that because I didn't want to get a bad evaluation, but if I didn't do things the way my immediate supervisor wanted I would also suffer her incivility towards me. After several times of talking to them individually and nothing changing I decided to talk to the overall boss. I explained the situation and asked to be changed to a different section and within a month I was able to work in a different department and not deal with those two individuals again. I thought
