Internet Addictions

Internet addiction is a deadly sort of plague that one can only imagine how a person will be able to cure this internet curse. In today’s society, any kind of addiction can be a serious one, if one does not take care of the nature of the beast. There are many kind of addictions that many people face in the world , however, the one that now seems to be of a nature that is not medically addicting is the Internet.

According to Kuss, 2014,   from the journal of  the International Mental health and Addiction, she states that a preliminary study of Internet Addiction has risen over the last decade which has increased highly due to Internet usage. In the last decade, the availability has risen tremendously with the instant access to Internet Cafes, high speed cable and most of all access to everything possible on the World Wide Web.

Internet Addiction can also be part of a mental health issue as well, Kuss, 2014 also stated that “Internet use also can lead to symptoms associated with addiction.”  This sentence is very interesting to mention, as it seems to be part of the preliminary research study of the Compulsive Internet Use Scale (CIUS).  According to (Griffiths, 2015, pg 191-197), the effectiveness of this specific information from the Journal of Substance Abuse clearly states that addiction has been noted with salience, in the same way as being prominent in the internet world at a faster pace, one would demonstrate the mood, and the tolerance of having extreme withdrawal symptoms, similarly in having withdrawal symptoms to medication and feeling a co-dependency. Indeed, a person can have a conflict of presenting difficulties in organization of personal time, work ethics and subsequently a possible relapse if one does not control the problematic issue of internet use.

Internet use is a growing social worldwide issue and there are current psychiatric professionals who can consider this a disorder, Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has been to known to cause many neurological complications, psychological complications and social disturbances or issues (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov). According to (Cash, 2012), the idea of placing IAD in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is currently being reviewed to be placed in the DSM-V. Cash, 2012, also noted that the certain countries already have extreme social issues already concerning internet addictions, such as China and South Korea. These two countries are currently dealing with a variety of significant public health concerns and are trying to establish more credible education, research ideology and possible treatment.

Is there an opportunity in bringing a practical experience in debating the different psychological disturbances, and or social problems that can exist? These debates can be classified using different behaviors of Internet Addiction? One classification can be the use of Internet alone; another one can be the use of non-work related technology, such as computer/Internet video game activities. Digital media is another form of addiction that can be used on the computer such as movies, reading books via Kindle or some other form of device.

There is a powerful inability to personally control the amount of time that is spent interfacing with all the potential digital technology that is available to one’s fingertips. Some examples of these technologies are: computer, smart phone, laptop, and smart tablet.  One of the major drawbacks or setbacks is that with the ability to provide Wi-Fi instant access on outside public establishments and the necessity to have Wi-Fi inside the house for work, school work and nowadays instant communication.
