Immigration is defined as the process of relocating permanently to another country. In 1965, the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 was established which abolished the quota system based on immigration and established new immigration policies to reunite immigrant families and to bring skilled labor to the United States. The issue of immigration has become a major debate for everyone. Although critics argued of negative impacts of immigrants such as overcrowding, drug trafficking, and threatening of American culture, immigrants still have a great impact in our society. Immigrants cause an impact in our society politically, economically and culturally. There are many immigration laws, regarding legal and illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigration is the migration of people across national borders with in a way that violates the current immigration laws of the destination country. There are many problems which develop, including overpopulation, rising crime rates and unemployment. Therefore, the American government must control the flow of illegal immigrants into America in order to provide more opportunities for Americans. In 1862, Congress passed a law that confined American vessels from carrying Chinese foreigners into the nation, except if the Chinese would have been utilized for work purposes. This confined American vessels to transport Chinese settlers to the U.S. The Alien Contract Labor Laws of 1885, 1887, 1888, and 1891 went significantly further. They confined migration to the United States to individuals who had marked work contracts before their entry in the nation. Thusly, Alien gifted workers, were just permitted to enter the U.S. keeping in mind the end goal to work in new businesses. At this point, numerous against migrant gatherings were contending that outsiders ought not be permitted passage into the nation, regardless of whether they were gifted workers.

The House of Representatives passed the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 on October 24, 2001. This is otherwise called the USA Patriot Act. The Patriot Act was intended to dissuade and rebuff fear based oppressor acts in the United States and around the globe and to improve law authorization investigatory devices (USA Patriot Act, 2001). Truly I trust that the Patriot Act is helpful to America, with a specific end goal to keep everybody protected and safe. The U.S. Government has a privilege to wiretap, on the off chance that it will keep everybody from getting to be hurt. The Act enables the administration to get to business records with no issue.

In my opinion, stopping an individual to see if they’re a legal U.S. citizen would not be helpful at all. It would cause more problems than there already is. For instance, officers could stop a car multiple times which cause unnecessary chaos, officers could stop cars because the driver and or passengers may LOOK of an illegal immigrant, etc. To avoid the unnecessary chaos, maybe check an ID at public locations. But, doing a traffic stop is nonessential.
