Social Networking

Have you ever gone a day without checking your Facebook? I have, and let me tell you, it was very difficult. Growing up in a generation very much surrounded by technology, we have been forced to adapt to technological advancements, which sadly, our lives now revolve around. Personally, although hard to admit, social networking is a huge necessity in my life. It is my main communication source to my friends and family endless miles away. Without the usage of social networking sites such as Facebook, I would be unable to adequately communicate with people whom I don't necessarily see on the regular, but whom I would like to keep in touch with. Whether someone has posted a picture from his or her recent birthday, to a Facebook status learning that someone you know has passed away, this is how we receive news, and sadly this is our new communication medium. Whether you like it or not, people have adapted to the new ways of communication. Instead of exchanging numbers with a new friend, it is now more common to add them on Facebook, this is a great example showing as to how Social Networking sites have deliberately started to greatly impact our everyday lives. Of course there are many pros and cons that come along with Social Networking sites, but all in all, it is our fastest communication medium, that allows us to update our "friends' with photos of our recent adventures, send messages, or even communicate for business. As much as some may hate what our generation has turned into, I believe Social Networking has created a positive communication medium that will stay active until new advancements arise and take over. Due to constant technological advancements, it is our job as a consumer to continue to adapt to them, as this is what our generation has turned into.
