DIVISION: B

FAYOL’S 14 PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT

Division Of Work:

According to Fayol the work must be divided as per the skill of the employee to achieve maximum efficiency.

I agree with his point because dividing work according to the employees specialization will not only result maximum efficiency but also will lead to job satisfaction as the employee will be working in her/his area of interest.

Authority and Responsibility:

Under this principle he has mentioned that if there is responsibility given to managers by the management they should also have the right to have authority to divide the work among subordinates.

I agree with this point because I feel the entire management depends on authority and responsibility as managers manage people by dividing work among them , evaluating it and managing all the task given within the available resources.

Discipline:

Under this principle Fayol has mentioned that discipline is required for a good conduct in the organisation and all forms the core value of the organisation.

I agree with this point as discipline is an integral part not only of an organisation but also of day to day life. Discipline needs to be followed because it leads to obedience and respectful behavior which is important for a smooth functioning of an organisation.

Unity of Command:

According to Fayol the subordinates should be given orders only by one manager so that there is no confusion about the task and reporting becomes easier.

I agree with this principle as reporting to multiple managers creates confusion and matching expectations of more than one manager at the same time is not practical.

Unity of Direction:

Under this principle he says that entire team must work towards the common objective that has been set by the manager. Manager is responsible for achieving this.

I agree with this principle as the managers are given tasks to be carried out by the top management and they need the entire teams effort to achieve the task and goals set.

Subordination of individual interest to common interest:

Henri Fayol indicated that personal interests are subordinate to the interests of the organization.

I do not agree with this point as there must always be scope for creativity involved and by implementing this the employees will not be able to think out of the box.

Remuneration:

Fayol stated that the employees must be given sufficient remuneration to keep him motivated to work.

I agree with this as employees work to earn money and not providing the employee sufficient remuneration can also make him leave the organisation for another one.

Degree of Centralization:

Fayol stated that the decision making should be done by the top level management and the middle level should be responsible carrying out the task in respect to the decision taken.
