When you are studying crime or any type of criminal activity, there are many different parts that add up to how the crime was committed. There are different behaviors that may have been in place, and other crimes that may be incorporated with one another. First, you must start with the basics. What criminology is and criminal justice. How deviants behaviors play into criminology, and the four four categories of contemporary law and how they relate to criminology and criminal justice. Each part is very different and unique to the whole process and can help determine why or how something was done.

When people see the words “Criminology” and “Criminal Justice” they tend to think they have the same meaning, just different wording. That is not true at all. There is actually a big difference between the two, and they both play huge roles when it comes to crime. Let's start out with Criminology. There are a lot of different options when it comes to a career in Criminology. One may be examining crime scenes or interviewing suspects. They may even be a part of the autopsy crew. No matter what field of criminology that someone is affiliated with, they will be looking at all kinds of data and analyzing new information about their cases. You are attempting to find out what motivates a certain someone to commit the crime they did. Criminal Justice is a little different

Criminal Justice is is about the study of agencies and social control and address criminal behavior(). Criminal justice focuses on three main ideas. First you have law enforcement. This would be the Police. This could also be the FBI, border control, and even the DEA. There are many different fields when it comes to law enforcement and all are vital to communities safety. The main goal in law enforcement is to prevent crime and stop it before it gets too far. When someone does commit some kind of crime they will be arrested and enter into the next level of criminal justice.

The next level of criminal justice is the Court Systems. The courts are just as important to society as police are. Once one enters the court system, they will found out if they are found guilty of the crime or not. They will find out what level of punishment fits the crime that they committed. The punishments can vary from a simple fine, suspended license, or time in prison. There are many different career options in the court system. There are judges, attorneys, and many more options. If the individual is found guilty then they will move onto the final level of criminal justice.

The final level in criminal justice is the Corrections Systems. The corrections systems job is to carry out and enforce what punishment the court systems decided for the individual. The main jobs here are the Parole and Probation officers. There are others but these are the most popular and important to the corrections system. So, criminology focuses on analyzing data, interviewing suspects and finding out who committed the crime. Criminal justice sometimes do some of things that criminology focuses on, but tend to try to prevent crime, and carry out the punishments to keep dangerous people out of people's lives.

As criminology can very easily be related to Deviant Behavior. Deviant behavior is when somebody's actions depart from social norms, values, and beliefs
