"Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear-not absence of fear."-Mark Twain. Mark twain's quote inspires courage within all of us.
This quote means that just because someone has courage, does not mean that they have no fear, it means that they can control their fear.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch is an example of what Mark Twain suggests are courageous individuals.
Atticus shows his courage when Heck Tate asks him to shoot a rabid dog. Even though he has not fired a gun in several years, he does, knowing that if he misses, he could hit someone or something.
In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, Wiesel and his father were leaving Gliewitz. There was a rumor that there would be a selection. The weak people went to the left the healthy went to the right. Wiesel's father was sent to the left and Wiesel ran after him, causing confusion. Wiesel showed courage by risking his life to save his father from being killed.
