The movie tells us a story about a over-protective clownfish named Marlin who befriends a regal tang named Dory to help search for Marlin's Son named Nemo, who had been abducted by divers and taken to Sydney Harbour. Throughout the movie, Marlin learns to take risks and to let Nemo take care of himself.

Journey us defined as a transition, a shift from one place to another. The film shows physical journey because Marlin had lost his son from the divers which Nemo get abducted by and taken to Sydney Harbour, so marlin has to go search and travel to Sydney Harbour. Along the way he befriends a fish named Dory. During the movie, Marlin changes from the start to the end emotionally and mentally.

The prescribed text "I Am David" is linked to Finding Nemo through their journey. They travel around to reunite with a family member. In I Am David, a similar journey is happening because David gets taken away from his mother and had been taken to labour camp, same goes for Finding Nemo, Nemo Gets abducted and had been taken to Sydney harbour. Throughout their journey they both learn important lessons in life. David learns how to smile and make use of money, while Nemo and Marlin know how to believe, let go & trust.

*A scene in I Am David where David gets flashbacks of the guard taking away his mother.
