Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc was a young teenager who rallied the French troops during the Hundred Years War and helped drive out English invaders. Joan of Arc was born in 1412, in the town of Domremy, France. Joan was not alive after the French victory for long since she was captured by the Burundians. The Burundians then sold her to the English for 10,000 pounds. The English tried her for being a witch and even for heresy and eventually she was burned on the stake when she was 19. She became a saint almost 500 years after her death in 1920 and she is one of the patron saints in France. Joan's victories over the English in the Hundred Years War had a huge impact on the world but her actions have made a greater impact on our world. Without the help of Joan of Arc our world would have been a lot different.

The major reason for Joan of Arc's fame was here military victories in the Hundred Years War. Her victories were a result of her aggressive mentality and her fierceness. This totally went against the cautious strategy of the usual French leaders. Also, this aggressive nature which was initially thought to fail did not hurt the army it actually helped the French. During the long campaign the French had only made one aggressive move that it hurt them. This mistake did not do any harm to their campaign and Joan of Arc's military aggressiveness proved pivotal in her military victories. One example of this was when Joan of Arc led her troops from castle to castle, invading and capturing the castles against the French orders. Without Joan of Arcs aggressive moves the French army would have never taken over those castles. That is why Joan of Arc's aggressive tactics helped her and the French army she led during the Hundred Years War.

During the campaign Joan primarily wore clothing that was made for men The main reason for this was to show people that she had strength and toughness. Another reason that she dressed as a man was to protect herself from some of the officers in the army. At this time even though she was the leader of the army she had to protect herself from being molested. People's clothes have a lot to do to with the way they are looked at. This is showed by Joan of Arc dressed like a man to show the people that she was tough and would not back down to anyone including the boys.

Joan of Arc was a very interesting person to research about. I thought it was very interesting how Joan was called by God at such a young age to lead the French. I thought it was sad how even though she had won the French the war, Joan was captured and killed by the English at the stake. But the most interesting thing that I found out was that while she was being burned she still had faith in God. That is why I believe that Joan of Arc was so successful. No matter what happened to her she never lost faith in God and she always kept God in his life. Even though times might have
