Julius Caesar - Democrat or Republican?

Julius Caesar, Democrat or Republican? Democrats care for all while republicans care for the rich. In the play, "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare Julius Caesar would be a Democrat. If Julius Caesar was alive today, he would be a Democrat because he wanted to help everyone, and all he wanted was to lead Rome.

Since Julius Caesar was a Democrat, he helped and did what all people of Rome wanted him to do.When Antony offered him the crown, he pushed it away. When Casca was describing what had happened he said, "...he put it by thrice, every / time gentler than the other; and at every putting-by / mine honest neighbors shouted" (Shakespeare I.ii.228-230). Antony offered him the crown three times and he declined it every time, knowing thats what the crowd wanted. Although he did what the crowd wanted there, he couldn't tell a lie for his wife. "Shall Caesar send a lie? / Have I in conquest stretched mine arm so far / To be afraid to tell graybeards the truth? (Shakespeare II.ii.65-67). Caesar would rather be brave and face the crowd than lie to the people of Rome. Caesar would be a Democrat over a Republican!

All Caesar wanted was to be leader of Rome, even though he wouldn't make a good one. Many people believed Brutus would be a better leader. "Where many of the best respect in Rome / (except immortal Caesar) speaking of Brutus, / And groaning underneath this age's yoke, / Have wished that noble Brutus had his eyes." (Shakespeare I.ii.59-62). Brutus is one of the best respected people in Rome, but Caesar does not see this. Although Caesar thinks he would make a good leader, he wouldnt. He can't do anything for himself and cries. "Help me, Cassius, or I sink." (Sakespeare, I.ii.111) Caesar shouldn't have to have Cassius save him because he is a grown man. Caesar wouldn't make a good leader and would be a Democrat because they like to have all power.

Some people believe Caesar would be a Republican. If he was a Republican he would be money hungry and help the rich instead of everyone. Democrats help the rich and the poor by taxing the rich, While Republicans give little to no funds to the poor. Caesar would be the type of person to support everyone. So Caesar would be a Democrat.

Julius Caesar would be a Democrat! He wanted to help all of the people of Rome, and he wanted was to be leader, which would make him a Democrat. So what do you think? Is Julius Caesar a Democrat or a Republican?
