In my research I found that both Theodore Kaczynski and John Nash were diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia. They talked about how Kaczynski seemed to have always suffered from different types of what we call "abnormal behavior"; a few of the stories tell us that as far back as a young child in school it seemed that he had something related to what sounded like Narcissistic Personality Disorder to me, but in more then one article it stated, that even in college he was antisocial. They never mention at what exact age he was diagnosed, but I did find that a Dr. Sally Johnson submitted her report on January 17th 1998 while he was in prison to stand trial. She had diagnosed Kaczynski as a paranoid schizophrenic. Before this his records had only shown that he had only a few brief contacts with mental health systems and only underwent psychological testing as part of a routine study of young men while attending Harvard.

John Nash had first started having bouts of Paranoid schzophrenia; and was diagnosed when he was thirty years old. I don't know, but by what I read I would think Kaczynski suffered from many other diseases besides Paranoid scizophrenia. Nash more or less showed symptoms of being out of touch with reality, and rambling, and seemed to know when he was suffering from bouts of schizophrenia as he would check himself into hospitals for treatment. Then Nash would have legal arguements with the authorities of the hospital as to why he should be released; this was a similarity with Kaczynski, once they would try to evaluate him to see if he was competent to stand trial, he would argue with their findings. Some of the other similarities the two shared were that they were both intellectually gifted, especially in math and sciences. I also think they both had a belief that the world was a rational one, and slowly began to evolve into their belief that everything had some meaning that only they understood its true meaning, a common feeling among people with schizophrenia. It also seemed they were both born to parents not of the United States and had a younger sibling.

Some of the ways they were different were that Nash kew he had a problem and would seek some help, he had a wife and child; whereas with Kaczynski he had always had relationship problems from an early age, even in school , and that as a child, he was mistrustful of the other kids. Nash could co-exhist and socialize with others on a daily basis, as for Kaczynski there was talk of how he had no social life, no female companions of sorts and kids and others thought he was weird, this continued into adulthood. It was talked about how Kaczynski remembered an uneventful childhood but alleged he was verbally and emotionally abused by his parent. There was no mention of Nash having these problems. When Nash started having his dillussions, he would ramble and leave unsolved math problems on blackboards in the schools, and even go so far as to
