CLIENT BACKGROUND

SmileStory Studio is a small and medium enterprise (SME) owned by an individual Bumiputera freelance photographer. SmileStory Studio Enterprise was established by Sharil Shariff in 2009. In 2009, Sharil Shariff started his career in with a passion in photography by doing freelance project & shooting-tagging with a few experts. He joined some official ceremony & small events in order to build up his skills in photography.

After 3 years of experiences in doing freelance jobs, he decided to open up his own company & runs his own photography business. At the present, SmileStory Studio offers a best shot for you in any ceremonies or events. Even though the company focus is on wedding ceremony, SmileStory Studio also take a shot on some other event such as birthday party, family day, portrait photo-shoot, company event etc.

Sharil Shariff is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Intelligent System, UiTM, Shah Alam. He has 3 years' experience capturing the special moments of people's lives. Expertise in photo shooting & editing, added with some other extra packages; drives SmileStory Studio to excel & achieve an outstanding position amongst other photography companies.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Information Technology (IT) recently has emerged various software, applications and systems with the internet's reach to set higher standard of efficiency, productivity, flexibility and innovation for a wide range of individual and business starting from small to a corporate level. According to Hassan, Saaya & Mohammad (2009), the online booking system is getting big market in this decade with the objective of this system is to make the working with the organization easier, quicker and more efficient.

The SmileStory Studio is developing its capabilities for providing computerized access to its services. This means the project will focused on the web-based booking system of photography company particularly for SmileStory Studio, which in most cases; the photographers has problems with their appointments and scheduling process. This project intends to computerize photography reservation or booking system to provide better customer service. Because of that, the company and photographers can provide the easier way of job in photography session to the customers.

In their 2010 research, Noorfadzilah, Wan Fatimah & Goh states that web is becoming a great communication medium nowadays and it has been used for sharing information resources, spreading the news and to generate income as well. A key issue for the SmileStory Studio is finding the most effective solution of providing its services to a local community toward organized photography scheduling and booking system. Despite SmileStory Studio is a small and medium enterprise (SME) owned by an individual Bumiputera freelance photographer, but with the Photography Booking and Management System this micro business will absolutely will increase the margin of revenues and having the wide range of customer.

Electronic bookings, or e-reservation, give evidence that their holders have permission to making reservation of the service, use a means of various facilities, or have access to some Internet services. Photography Booking and Management System enables the SmileStory Studio's customer to make a reservation or booking online. This is the easier and quickest way to make the appointment with the photographer.

This Photography Booking and Management System is very rare system for the SME type of business because commonly the customer in Malaysia still using the traditional way making the appointment by making a phone call or go to the counter at the shop. Currently, the staff or photographer at the counter is using a diary or journal to record any booking or appointment for their customer. Customer is unable to make a booking online at this moment and has to go to the shop or make a phone call for an appointment. Sometimes, customer needs to wait for a long duration for a confirmation of their booking or appointment and ask for information. Besides that, sometimes the shops are closed and the photographers are busy to pick up the call. This brings a lot of inconvenience to the customers. Photography Booking and Management System enables the customer to make the booking and ask for information online easily.

Information Technology that will concentrate Dynamic Web Application Development and Database Management System. It will also implement some of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
