In most high schools, in the United States, the superintendent and principle will let their newspapers publish any story related to the school. In a high school, Central High School, the superintendent and principal will not let the newspaper be published. The editor in chief of the news paper is arguing that the paper be published; to inform the students on what is happening in their school. The superintendent and the principal should let the high school newspaper be published because it will let the students know what underage drinking does to them.

The newspaper is talking about underage drinking, and partying. A student by the name of George M said "everybody drinks. Well, practically everybody,. Mostly we just drink beer. I know a guy who'll get it for us, or one of my friends has a fake I.D" (Altman 132). Most students their age can find what they call a 'pull-out', a person over 21 that can but alcohol for them. They either get the alcohol for a specific reason, a friend's birthday, or take it to school. It is most common that a student who gets caught with alcohol at school a relative or a very close friend has bought them the alcohol.

Most under aged drinkers usually start when they are freshmen in high school, if not younger. Juanita C quoted "I think most of us started when we were freshmen. You know, there were always some guy who could get us beer or wine or whatever, and you'd just get together and party. I started when I was 14, and all my friends started then too" (Altman 132). Most of the students go out to party and get wasted. Following the next school day they talk about what they did at the party, and how they got wasted and couldn't remember what they did.

Most under aged drinkers will not confess who bought them the liquor. When they get questioned to who bought them the alcohol they will stay quiet or either say "someone" or "my friend". The editors, Shareen Donnell and John Hernandez, said "according to everyone we talked to, even those who don't drink, getting beer or wine isn't a problem. Nobody admits buying it themselves, but everybody always knows somebody who can get it for them" (Altman 132). These kids are making it look like they can just go into liquor store and buy the alcohol themselves without showing an ID to the clerk.

When teenagers go out to party, they don't know if they are going to return home or not from a party, and think there's nothing to worry about that they are going to be ok. An anonymous student from Central High said "A party's a party. First you drink a little. Then you dance a little. Then you find a quiet bedroom or go out to your car. Everybody knows this"(Altman). What most teenagers think that they are going to be with their friends all through the party? They end up separating and then some girls end up with a guy at the end of the night. Then like what the student said they will go to either ones house or car.

The other consequences of going out to party is drinking and driving. The driver ends up drinking and then on the way back they either get pulled over by police or they get in a crash, some maybe lucky and go home okay. "A pickup truck accident last week in which had five students at Capital City high school... the five had been drinking, and the driver of the truck, who was 17, had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood" (Altman 132). If the students were to see the article and ready what the other students said maybe they will have a sense of humor and think twice about going out and drinking then driving.

The principal and superintendent decided not to let Central High School
