Reformation is the term used to describe the era in European history when division within religious sects of Christianity took place . This kind of division earlier also took place wherein belives divided into old orthodoxical Christianity prevelant in eastern Europe and catholic Christianity prevalent in western Europe . But now this time division within catholic traditions took place . Historians believe that reason behind this division was corruption that incurred and crept into the leanings of Catholic believes . In the name of god and bible the popes were extracting enormous wealth to an extent that it became genuinely unbearable . The most important figure, who initiated this protest against greedy actions of catholic church was German intellect Martin Luther . But much before his attempts same protest was taken over by people like wycliff and Hus but they were sentenced to death and burned alive . Now the question that arose is that why Hus and wycliff were burnt alive but Luthers movement popularly known as protestant movement gained momentous among the ordinary people . This can be explained through the vision of historians who firmly believe in the fact that intellect wave of renaissance did play a role in changing the mind set of people . Now instead of considering gods wrath to be the cause of every mishaps people started finding reasons and begin thinking logically and rationally . Martin Luther through his 95 theses put in forth evidence of corrupted church and provoked people to take actions against catholic church . Along with Luther's movement there took place other movement such as Calvinist initiated by john Calvin ..other like Zwingli's movement and English reformation initiated by henry the viii who wanted to divorce his wive but the church didn't allow him to do so thus the only alternative left was to consolidate all the power into his own hand thereby decreasing the power of church . His this action also created absolutist tendencies in England . He was succeeded by Edward vii who also followed path of his father but Mary Tudor is also better known as bloody Mary because she tried to establish once again orthodoxical church but within few years she was successes by Elizabeth who once again establish the system which was prevelant during henry viii . Thus in concusion it can be inferred that reformation movement did change the lifestyle of people brought into fold new liberty which they were not allowed to enjoy within the enclosures of catholic church
