Can you remember the last time you where lied too? How did it make you feel, when you found out? Or what about the last time you may have lied to someone? Have you ever asked why people lie, knowing that it could and will hurt the one that is being lied to? There are different reasons for someone to lie. It could be as straightforward as to keep from getting in trouble, to impress people or to improve one's position. It does not matter why one would lie, when the lie comes out there are always going to be serious consequences.

People lie every day; teenagers lie to their parents about school, homework, grades, and the party they want to go to or what may be doing when they are out of town. Young children lie about eating there vegetables, or how the toy got broken. There are circumstances that people may find it easier to lie to loved ones, about what went on when they were out with friends, or even who they may be talking to when loved ones are not around. The only thing people are hoping to accomplish when lying is to stay out of trouble. When a lie is told we never think about the effect that it may have on the person it has been told too. Teens and children think they are being sneaky when lying to their parents; the one thing they forget is parents have been there and done that, parents are smarter than given credit for. When a lie has been told to a loved one whether it be a spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend it will be found out causing serious consequences. Leading to issues of trust, making loved one's always question whether you are lying or tell the truth.

People lie to impress people. Lying to impress people is more common in teens and children, they lie to get people to like them, or make them think they are cool. The one thing they do not realize that is the part that is not cool. Teenager and children just want to fit in, and care too much about what other think about them. They lie to fit in not thinking about the consequences of their action, or what could happen when this backfires. When people think you are always lying to them, they will not want to be around you, and in turn will think you are not cool. "Lying to impress", people will only lead you to not having any friends at all, and being alone.

I believe lying is unacceptable and should not be used as much as it is today. Some would say it is OK to lie to protect another person; this is not a good thought process the lie could be protecting one person but could hurt the next, causing the person to get into even more trouble. When it comes down to lying it is an inner choice, how much time did it take to think up the lie? The person telling the lie will always have to remember what the lie was to keep it going, in the end they only end up hurting the person that was told the lie. There are a lot of reasons one would choose to lie, for a job, promotion even as parents we lie to our kids. By adding just a little
