EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In this report, the shipbuilding industry of Bangladesh has been analyzed from the perspective of economic theories. The application of economic theories has unfolded various aspects of this industry.

One of the most ancient and vibrant sciences in the history is Economics. All the activities of business enterprise revolve around economics. It explains, facilitates and creates. It denotes the cause and effect of every occurrence in the market. The biggest dilemma is to meet all the demands with the scarce resources that human beings have.

We have collected data through exploratory research. Primary data were collected through observation, survey and unconstructed interviews were the methods used.  Secondary data were collected from internal sources as Company’s daily sales statement, Company’s leaflet annual report and other publications etc. The external sources were Different books and periodicals on shipbuilding industry, Government report, Newspaper etc.

This report’s sample frame consists of 21 companies. The sample size for the survey is set at 5, with a confidence level of 95% and a confidence interval of 40. The findings of the report are very positive since shipbuilding is a flourishing industry now. Right now this is the second largest contributor to export after RMG sector. This industry holds a lot of hope for Bangladesh. With the flow the industry is going forward, in the near future Bangladesh will be on the list of shipbuilding giants.
