VI. CONCLUSION

E.E. Cummings' philosophies in life such as individualism, transcendentalism, satirical views towards technology, adds his favor of feelings over knowledge. His views influenced quantitatively his crafts as reflected in his expression or syntax, punctuations and visual representation of the poem. Gifted with exceptional skills, a prolific writer and a creative painter, Cummings portrays his philosophical views that can come out from experiences and observations of things that surround him.

VII. RECOMMENDATIONS

Due to E.E. Cummings' massive view of typographical diversions for standard rules of grammar and syntax, the researchers recommended that the readers who study E.E. Cummings works should not be distracted of his poem. Rather, let them have an open mind and enjoy the poem as they are. As Norman Friedman puts in, "Relax, stop wandering what's it all about-like way strange and familiar things. Don't try to despise you. Don't try to enjoy it, let it try to enjoy you. Don't try to understand it, let it try to understand you." (Sauvey, 1995)

The researchers are also encouraged to take hold of more of Cummings' political works as familiarize with the flow and style. In that way, they would appreciate what the author is trying to say, whether they believe it or not. The writers also recommend readers to read more on Cummings' biography with emphasis on his unsuccessful marriages to have a deep analysis on his satire styles.

The aim of the thesis was presented and justified, I think, but not that strong enough to make a true reader satisfied with the overall view of the thesis, especially with the historical perspective why E.E. Cummings come up with such individualistic and satire philosophies in life.

The thesis itself is weak. It is in arranged in the given pattern, but information and analysis were unstructured. I saw flaws in the Summary of Findings where the last part was "copy-paste' by the researcher assigned, I think. The study weren't able to reveal the whole and true story behind Cummings' philosophies in life. It lacks background of the poet which should be emphasized in able to unravel his perspectives in life as reflected in his selected poems. It seems that the thesis gives more emphasis on the descriptive part of the research than of its historical viewpoint. It is very subjective which makes the completed work insubstantial-just merely words.
