Current Issues Assessment (Technology)

Technology is a present element of business in today's changing world whether some like it or not. Even groups and individuals that are not directly involved in commerce must somehow adapt to the greater expectations placed on them by the implementation of things like the Internet; e-mail; online banking and even telephone banking. For example, it is generally assumed that applicants for job positions are capable of communicating their cover letters and resumes with the concerned organisation electronically. Furthermore, it is evident that technology is taking the place of some forms of customer entertainment, such being movie downloads, music downloads and book and literature downloads. These advancements seem to be placing entire industries in jeopardy as they are literally taking the place of the previous means of consumers acquiring their products. People simply download a movie instead of going to the cinema or the video/DVD store; people download songs and albums instead of going to a CD store and people are beginning to purchase literature online instead of buying from a book store or going to the library. So, what can corporations currently present in the above mentioned industries do? Not much, other than adapt to overcome these obstacles.
