The 2 shot sequence is used a lot in this sequence when the girls meet up, when they travel in the car, in the bus and when they stand on the bridge. I t is also used when they are in the bath or the bed. It is used because it easiloy and quickly shows how close the girls are in thier relationship. They are very close friends and rely on each other for a lot of their emotional well being, and the 2 shot helps show this. It does this because they are phisically close together in order for them to e in the same shot in most of the 2 shots, notibally when they meet up and when they are in bed together. The 2 shot is used widely through the film in many sequences for the same effect. This starts near the beggining when they meet and is only eneded when they part at the climax of the film.The 2 shot is a key compositional element in this sequence and in the wider film. It is used in almost every sequence that the girls are in together to show the intensity of their relationship and how much they are coming to like each other and rely on each other. The two shot is not as widely used in most films as it forces characters to be close together, usually closer than most peoples personal space. For this reason, it is striking how much this film techniaue is used to emphasize how strong thier relationship is. As well as this it shows how much of a force they represent against the rest of the world. The dominance of the 2 shot represents them as a unit against which society is disaproving in conflict of these two human beings.
