Humans have a negative effect on the environment. Because of over-population, we have used up a lot of natural resources that we have not replenished. Humans have also created more problems such as global warming and many different types of pollution. Humans need to create a way to reduce their waste and pollution. We have limited our supply of fossil fuels, fresh water, and we are starting to heat up the entire planet. (“How Many People Can Live on Planet Earth”)
Fortunately for us, Earth is good at recycling waste. Unfortunately, we are creating too much waste for the Earth to handle. Pesticides, fertilizer, herbicides, landfills and nuclear waste have polluted our soil and when these chemicals have taken all of the nutrients it will make the soil lifeless. As a result of lifeless soil, we can’t grow healthy plants and the plants are living would start to die. The fertilizers have now contaminated almost all of the rivers in the country. (“How Do Humans Affect the Environment?") We need to learn how to minimize the pollution we put straight into the Earth.
Humans are also now using up all or the irreplaceable fossil fuels and we are making no attempt to replenish them. The burning of the fossil fuels pollutes the air and destroys the atmosphere. Different problems we create lead to even bigger ones that become harder and harder to fix. Millions of deaths are caused because of the pollution the burning of the fossil fuels causes. A total of almost 7 million are caused because of household and outdoor air pollution around the globe. (“Human Impact on the Environment”)
Another problem humans are causing is global warming. Greenhouse gases and CO2 are believed to be creating holes in the ozone layer and causing more sunlight to come inside the atmosphere heating up the globe. Our Carbon footprint I how much Carbon Dioxide we release into the atmosphere. Different activities we participate in increase the amount of holes in the Ozone layer, which protects us from harmful UV rays. The reason we should care about the Ozone layer slowly being destroyed because it is basically like an umbrella that protects us from the sun’s harmful UV rays. It doesn’t completely shield us from the rays but it is like a protective layer limiting what comes into our atmosphere.
In conclusion, we should learn how to reduce what chemicals we put into our soil, limit the amount to fossil fuels we burn, and watch what goes up into the atmosphere because it is the only thing protecting us from the Sun’s harmful rays. We need to do this because putting chemicals into our soil takes the life and nutrients out of the soil. It is also important to limit our use of fossil fuels because first of all they aren’t replaceable yet, and second of all they are polluting the air. Lastly we need to reduce our carbon footprint to save out atmosphere. Humans have a negative effect on the atmosphere,
