Throughout the world, the race of the Filipinos is barely seen or notice. We sometimes feel so inferior to other races, maybe because of our color and other physical appearance we carry. However, I tell you beforehand, Filipino race is one of the most beautiful and something to be proud of. Why? The evidence is clear whenever our candidate for Ms. World and other beauty pageants won. Filipinos are also good in the field of sports and are known as one of the unbeatable team. However, no matter how far the Filipino race has gone, still we can hear the words "Pilipino LANG ako."
"I'am JUST a FILIPINO." A statement that somewhat justified that you put down the flag of your race. We are ashamed to tell people that we are only Filipino, why? Besides feeling inferior to other races such as American, Japanese and Chinese, we put down ourselves because of the image that may mark the mind of the people we encounter. There are thousands of overseas workers in the world. They work to serve the rich and sometimes they managed to put their pride down just for the high pay. Yes, that maybe true, but, on the contrary, still, there are a lot of Filipinos who are the leaders of company and other high-building institutions. We are also capable of doing the mightiest work that the world anticipates. We also have our own innovations and discovery, a culture so unique that other races die to try, and a place that truly is a paradise.
Our nation maybe not that economically stable and the politics may seem to be deteriorating, however, the people, Filipinos in general are remarkably capable of doing what the whites can do. Our morena skin may be the least favored color, but that what makes us unique and easily remembered. The "pango" nose may not be fixed by photoshop but that's OK, that nose once become the most favorite by others. Our physical appearance doesn't dictate our capabilities; it is not a factor of our abilities.
"I Am a Filipino" by Carlos P. Romulo strongly highlights how the blood of Filipino becomes so victorious despite all the battles that our ancestors fought. Our nation that is now well-shaped because of the help of other nations, give us the signal that once again we can be victorious like our ancestors, the only difference lies on the friendly ties we made to other countries not like before. Philippines also cleared the big divergence between the East and West. Our country combines the culture that is practiced in their respective homeland and served as a buffer state between the two different regions of the globe. But, before the whole piece ends, there is still the desire to find the real freedom although, of course, right now no war of any sort is happening. And that kind of freedom that will last forever and is protected by the children of the next generation.
