Lone Survivor

Marcus Luttrell, 35, is a Navy Seal from Huntsville, Texas tells about his experience in
Afghanistan with Seal team 10, on their mission called Operation Redwings. The six Navy
seals were deployed to Afghanistan to kill a high ranking Taliban leader named Ahmad
Shah. Chasing this target in the Hindu Kush mountains, the men encounter the Taliban and
engage in firefight. After hours of strenuous warfare, his team is killed along with the
other 16 troops in the rescue helicopter that was shot down. After being blown off of a
cliff by an RPG, Marcus is the only survivor. He has the absolute highest honor and
respect for his fallen teammates. He stresses the important mindset instilled within Navy
SEALS that they are unstoppable, that they are the best all around.
At the mere age of 15, Marcus and his twin brother began training to become Navy
SEALS with a neighbor who also is an ex-SEAL. Weight training, endurance, and other
backbreaking tasks were done by Marcus through his teenage years. 1999 was when we
enter the United States Navy, and learned what it meant to serve your country. Through
boot camp and training, Marcus learned things besides naval tactics. He discovered the
special brotherhood he was entering, and the strong bond between teammates. He wanted everyone to know how strong and brave members of the armed farces are, and for not any person to doubt them. He he living his dream being a navy SEAL
