                                                The Road Not Taken

            ”The Road Not Taken”, is written by Robert Frost. Robert Frost was one of the most popular American poets in the 1990s, he is the unofficial poet laureate of the United States and he spent all of his life to write poems. “The Road Not Taken” is a traditional form of iambic tetrameter, but the sound-step variable. The rhyme for each section is “abaab”. This poem’s biggest feature is good at using the front seemingly prosaic things, to express a profound philosophy. As he wrote in a poem: “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel. I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. “Robert put down in a normal school teaching career, and it may be a flat, stable life. He said to himself: poetry of it, poor on poor it, so they came to England, not far from London in a village hut to find a plank as a new home. No matter what he made decision before, he would be keep going, no regret.

The poem begins in the yellow wood, Robert faced two roads. After the poet considered, he decided one way that he wanted to go. In this layer, the poet described that he chooses the road that is lees people traveled by, is not mean that the poet’s choice is rash decision. The poet made decision by a complex psychological process. Described when the poet stood in the crossway, he was regret because he could not choose two ways in the same time. “And sorry I could not travel both, and be one traveler, long I stood” it shows the poet’s hesitation and thought. One road is flat and smooth. It expects to see its end; on the other hand, second road is desolate, filled with the introduction of the temptation to explore, but it is clam and beautiful. “Oh, I kept the first for another day” it shows the poet’s self-comforting after he had no choice to choose both roads. “Yet knowing how way leads on to way, doubted if I should ever come back.” This would be Robert’s thought after a few years. “I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” It tells us, human would face myriad of choice in life, and every choice would have major impact that affect the life. A person how to spend his life, it depends on how he made dissection at the fork in the road of life. The choice was different, and the fate would be different.

One of the most important features in this poem is simple and minimalist, meaning timeless. Thought deeply, philosophical content resides bland and simple earthy verse being. This poem uses the natural language. We can easily see the description the fork of poetry is the symbol of the fork in life. It shows that in the journey of life, we often have to make a choice of two roads, two ideas or two actions, different choices will determine a different direction in life. When people faced with choices, they tend to become hesitant or undecided. Finally, people will eventually choose one of a road. This poem descripts that the mentality of a man faced with the choice of selecting. Every reader can find their own life experience in this poem, appreciate the philosophy. Because of this poem is rich in content, leaving the reader to imagine the space, thus being touched, causing a deep thought.
