Qualities of a good supervisor

Qualities and trait of a good supervisor are impartial to the effectiveness of the organization and workers whose effort is directed to. In order for organizations to meet modern needs, they must have the capacity to institute and uphold effective organization through having responsible supervisors. However, in most cases, it is a difficult to manage groups of people with different personalities. It, therefore, takes a supervisor with good qualities and trait to manage an organization.

Ability to plan work is one of the major qualities for an effective supervisor. This is achieved by having the capacity to schedule and analyze emergency and routine work. Although every worker in an organization is expected to carry out their daily activities, planning is mostly supervisory role. This quality is very essential because it enhances efficiency of work in an organization (G & L, 2001).

Supervisor should also have cooperation while executing policies in an organization. This means that a supervisor should adhere to policies laid by an organization. This quality is very important because it help supervisors to place the growth of an organization above their own self interest. In addition, it also allows supervisors to help workers understand all phases of policies in an organization (Pruthi, 2005).

A good supervisor should also have positive thinking. To have effective running of an organization, supervisors should always be positive thinkers. They should think in term of how things should be done in an organization. This opens their mind to new ideas thus increasing opportunities in an organization. In addition, a supervisor with positive thinking looks the future of an organization with confidence (Pruthi, 2005).

A good supervisor should also have a genuine interest of the people. This is by making prompt and sound judgment in an organization. In addition, it also helps the supervisor to genuinely place the right individual in the tight job. This enhances effective performance in an organization (Pruthi, 2005).
