Abstract

Child and young adult abductions is the unwanted act of being leered away, hidden, and or the physical taking of a child or young adult who are swept away illegally. This crime comes under the wide umbrella of the Public Health System. These abductions cause physical and mental harm. Some abductions cause short and long term health problems, such as, Acute Stress Disorder, ASD, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, which affects the general population at large. (NIMH, 2001, p. 5). The Public's Health System then needs to create a Public Service Announcement, (PSA) in which they warn the public of immediate and impending danger. My passion is to reduce or eliminate such abductions, teaching new behaviors to prevent even the smallest possibility of any deviant person who could take our youth against their will. (Hodas, G. R. M.D. 2006).

Children and Young Adults are at Immediate Risk of Becoming Abducted

Abduction dangers are real and imminent. At any time a child or young adult are going to be kidnapped and or murdered. Abduction or kidnapping is the act of stealing a person away against their will. This is an immediate and ongoing public health concern for all of the general public. The Public Health System, an entity that helps to protect the health and well-being of all the population, then stands in and creates a Public Service Announcement, (PSA), in which a wide array of medias are brought to the plight of child or young adult who is abducted and warns the public in as a broad range as possible. The PSA acts as a beacon to bring the child or young adult's kidnapping into the light of the public at large. A PSA is a script, written Word document, audible pertinent message, and video, calling out for the return of a child or young adult, and or the prevention of such. I will refer from here on, instead of child/young adult abduction, as an abduction/kidnapping to generalize the meaning. Bill Goodwill. (2007)

My passion for choosing this public health problem, Abductions of our youth, is deep seeded. I lost a friend to a kidnapping and murder when I was only 11 years old. To this day her murder haunts me because I was the last person to see her before she was murdered a half hour later. That stress then, has carried over till today. This is one example of public health problems afflicting myself and probably hundreds of thousands of others. The point being is no child should be touched, abused, and or kidnapped ever. Right now someone has to take every measure to stop this deviant sickness and teach our children coping skills, parents and all persons here in the U.S. - awareness skills and how to use some strict guidelines. We need a device on every child that monitors their whereabouts, so that police and other officials can hone in, in a matter of seconds where the missing youth is. It is all about prevention and learning new behavioral skills that will make a significant change. Everyone should hear the statistics on child/young adult abductions because they would be horrified, shocked, and dismayed. The statistics are grim even though there has been a slight decline in stranger abductions. Sometimes people don't take adequate precautions because they feel safe, and maybe they say to themselves never will our children be kidnapped. A false sense of security is what develops into an unhealthy outlook for their children and quite possibly themselves. "It takes a village to raise our children", lest they forget the community is involved more than one thinks- in your families lives. Yen Phenomenal. (2012)

Statistics According to Kenny Love (2012)

Child abductions occur nearly every 4 seconds here in the U.S.

1.5 million Children are reported missing and abducted each year.

Of kidnapping victims, 40% are killed, 4%,
