The corporate culture is the spirit of each corporate; it can be a kind of motivator to encourage employees work hard and it also can be a kind of glue that hold all employees together. All the corporates in the modern world have their own culture. But with process of globalization, some multinational corporates have to make some changes on their culture to adapt the changes of external environment. This article will define the corporate culture and the environment, and how the culture of an organization can be changed to adapt the turbulent environment.

Four types of corporates culture

There are four types of corporates culture, which are adaptability culture, achievement culture, involvement culture and consistency culture. Each of these four types of culture has different feature and focuses on different area.

Adaptability culture

The adaptability culture emerges in an environment that requires fast response and high-risk decision making (Richard L, 2011). Managers of corporates that have adaptability culture should be susceptive to detect the changes of the environment, then encourage and support the company response rapidly, make decisions about change to meet new needs. Lush Cosmetics provides a good example of an adaptability culture. Lush Cosmetics is a famous maker of shampoos, lotions, and bath products, most of their products are made from fresh materials such as mangos and avocados. The CEO Mark is passionately support changes and encourages employees to break boundaries. The corporate kills off one-third of its product line every year to offer new products. Most companies involved in electronics and fashion often use and adaptability culture because they must make changes fast to respond the rapid changes in the environment.

Achievement culture

The achievement culture is suited to organisations that have steady market and customers, and do not have intense needs for flexibility and rapid change, especially when they just make service or make products for specific customers. The main role of managers of companies have achievement culture is like the glue that holds the organization together, keep good relationship with employees, encourage and motivate employees work hard. Hospital is a typical organization has achievement culture. All the hospitals only serve for patients, and they get very little effect from the changes of environment, so the only way to attract customers is improve their skill and technology. The job for managers of hospitals is assign works to employees by their behaviors and professional skills, and for employees they need to improvement their skills and pay more attention when working.
