The Metamorphosis Part 1

1. Gregor reminds me of a person who makes little money but is very hardworking. The work he does though is seen by others to be "useless" once they are old. The sister is like every other sister or brother who tries to help their sibling until they have to take over responsibilities.

2.A) Gregor's wasn't really affected by his transformation. Gregor thought to himself what had happened to him. Since this transformation didn't really affect him, he accepted the fact that he became a vermin.

B) Gregor's family reacted a little differently to his transformation. His mother and father were devastated at what he looked like. But on the other hand his sister Grete tried to look over the fact of how bad her brother looked and tried to help him.

C) The different reactions from each family set up the challenges of fighting with each other to over come this transformation rather than working together to try to solve the problem. The father just wanted to beat Gregor because he was embarrassed of how he looked. The mother and sister were sympathetic at first then turned against Gregor.

3. A) The first person to come visit Gregor is a manager from work. Gregor knew he was going to come check to see why he missed his train the in the morning.

B) I think Gregor's relationship with the manager must have been pretty good one since Gregor never missed a day of work in five years and also was never late. So I believe that there trouble between the manager and Gregor.

C) Gregor was not happy before the transformation. He had to work at a job that he didn't like that much. Gregor only worked there because he had to pay off his father's debt. He worked everyday; he never had any free tie. His life basically consisted of working and sleeping. Gregor was always on the move and sleeping in crappy hotels.

4.A) Gregor's parents are indebted to his boss because they owe him a lot of money.

B) Gregor fears if he loses his job that his parents will never be able to pay off the debt and they will have to sell the house just to pay the bills.

5.A) Neither the family nor the manager ever question if the vermin is Gregor or not because he was the only person in the room. Also the vermin was bigger than a normal size vermin.

B) This an alienation that Gregor has already experienced both at home and work because his parents treat him like a bug. Also his boss treated him badly. They stepped all over him like he was nothing but an annoyance. Without bugs the world wouldn't be ale to survive just like without Gregor the family would not survive.

6. I believe that Gregor's inner self stayed human despite the change of his outer appearance. I think that he became more human because he valued the gifts of human life a lot more when they were taken away
