Setting: The setting takes place in San Francisco, California in a house where he was treated like an animal and not a human being this setting takes place while he was just a child living with a abusive mother. The novel has many settings that took place in the novel but in San Francisco, California is the main setting of the story that was taken place in.

Major Characters:

Dave Pelzer: The story's first person narrator, which means that this character is the protagonist. Dave Pelzer but referred as "it" in the story where the protagonist has a problem to figure out a way to survive while being abuse by his mother which always try to torcher him in many ways which can sometimes risk her owns sons life.

Cristine Pelzer: This character is the protagonist mother who abuses his son Dave who is the main character in the novel. She is being described in the novel as fat drunk who uses her anger by torturing her own son by playing some silly games that she created that can risk her own son's life.

Summary:

This novel is about a boy becoming a man with a perfect family, which he referred in the book. As he is fighting for his life against his abusive alcoholic mother who try to torcher him in many ways as possible. As in the novel he is trying to figure out a way to keep his hopes up every time he is being tortured to death. As he finally is adopted by a family he is still having a rough time trying to get his life back together and trying to figure out a way to forget about his past and create a better future. Where in the novel he has one son and got married and referred that his with his mother was something that was meant to be because now he has a wonderful life better than he had the one before.

Recommendation and Criticism:

I think that this was another great series from Dave Pelzer's biography series about his life with a abusive mother who tries to make her son's life miserable as possible. I would recommend this novel to all the students in high school and up because his words are just powerful in this novel and as it's based on a true story makes it unbelievable that a man who had many problems during his childhood ended up still being successful in life by having a loving family and forgiveness after his mom last minutes in the world that we all live in today. This is a very dramatic novel that has a great climax and it's also a life lesson about the real world how many children at home and also at school. And also teaches a moral lesson about never giving up your dreams and goals until it comes true no matter what the situation you're
