Voice Telecommunications Trends

In the recent economic decline, telecommunications has played a fundamental role as businesses strive to influence technologies to handle business more budget friendly, and discover ways to do more with less. Of the many trends in telecom technologies, I will discuss two voice telecommunication trends. One is cloud computing, and the second is video conferencing and telepresence.

Amid cloud computing, businesses use one source to administer their server, voice, and data. The increasing recognition of cloud-based services has offered new prospects for service providers to help financially prudent businesses do more with less. Cloud-based private branch exchange (PBX) over a controlled Voice over Private Internet (VoPI) service supports smaller businesses, and enables these businesses to correspond like Fortune 500 companies. Individuals who are constantly in and out of the office can be accessible at one number--internally using direct-extension calling, or by external callers, who can be transferred between different extensions without technical difficulties. In addition, some of the current features available that make communications more efficient and cost-effective are: Remote access to voicemail, remote configuration of user features, and backup and recovery systems to name a few.

The second trend is Hosted video conferencing and telepresence. In today's global economy, relationships are more important than ever, requiring face-to-face communication with colleagues, partners and customers. Yet, new economic realities often prohibit travel schedules that are costly in time, resources and budgets. Video conferencing influences the new approach of working where everyone can be more dynamic with face-to-face teamwork via videoconference. For instance, videoconferencing enables people to feel as if they were presently attending a meeting, an interview, a training session, or a demonstration being conducted elsewhere. Videoconferencing abolishes needless travel time and costs, enhances employee efficiency and promptness by allowing businesses to formulate beneficial decisions quicker.
