"Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior" is an article where the author, Amy Chua, explains that Chinese children are more successful in their life than Western Children. She compares the western parents way of raising their children with the Chinese mother's way and she gives examples from her own way of upbringing.

Amy Chua declares her message and therefor she is the sender of the article. She is professor at Yale Law School, which means that she seems reliable. She knows how she will raise her children, when she follows the Chinese mothers and makes strict rules that protect her children, Sophia and Louisa, from love and friendship. She is subjective through the article because she involves her own life for example page 2, lines 2-3, where she talks about her western friend and how her children only practice 30 minutes every day on their instruments. But in a way, she is also objective because she elucidates the reader of the article about how different cultures raises their children respectively the westerns parents way and the Chinese mothers way, and she never mentions it on one way or another as bad - but you get the feeling that she likes the Chinese way best.

As mentioned previously she compares the western parents who let the children choose their own choices, with the Chinese mothers, who gives them a very strict upbringing filled with rules. Although she uses the Chinese mothers way she seems to respect the two types of upbringing. She tries to understand the western way and it is clear that she prefers the Chinese way.

One statement Amy Chua uses is on page 3, lines 7-9: "Chinese parents can order their kids to get straight As. Western parents can only ask their kids to try their best." Indirectly she means that western parents are weaker than Chinese parents and find it easier to give up and let the children stand on their own two feet. Instead of always being careful and loving, western parents should make their child feel ashamed instead of being afraid of the child's mentality.

This article target group is the western parents, because the author, Amy Chau, wants them to be more like the Chinese mothers and everybody who wants to know the difference between the Chinese mothers and the western parents' way of bringing up their children. This effect the message in the manner that she maybe wants the western parents to learn something of the Chinese mothers' way of upbringing.

The author of this article, Amy Chua, writes in a formal language with difficult words and long sentence types. I presume that this could be because of her education, where she uses this language as her normal language. She draws much attention to the Chinese mothers' upbringing, which get much praise because she uses this kind of upbringing herself and therefore has a positive view on this. She argues logically and an example of this could be that
