Kudler Fine Foods presently finds itself at a crucial crux in their systems management. They have come along fine over their history to get them to the point where they are today. Today Kudler is a source of high quality foods, meats, cheeses and wines. They market to a consumer who demands fine foods and are prepared to pay a premium for them. This makes it no surprise that Kudler will need to take steps to ensure that there is a modern and robust Retail Enterprise Management System (REMS) in place.
Customers of fine foods have a taste for quality and are not very different from traditional store shoppers in terms of their expectations at the point sale and accessibility and availability. A transformation in the operations of Kudler is possible with the investment in a system that can collect data at a single source. From here, Kudler can begin to broaden its point of sale scope immediately. We can see sales go from the register at a checkout line to smart phones, tablets, call centers, kiosks, e- commerce, and social media outlets as well. This change will be sure to please the modern customer whom in many cases has become accustom to the conveniences' that come from shopping online and placing orders from home to either be picked up the retailer or delivered to them by mail or by van.
The corporate managers will benefit from greater control and flexibility through the implementation of REMS. With this system, financial data that is vital for planning and forecasting such as which items are selling and which items are not, are tracked as data is collected through sales. Orders to replenish inventories are easily generated because the need for new inventory shows clearly, easily and accurately through the new retail system.
This expansion of the Kudler enterprise across markets in varying regions and jurisdictions has the added challenges of managing the rules that are in place that have to be followed in order to operate in these different markets as well. An REMS investment correctly and thoroughly installed has the ability to take into consideration and setup operational guidelines to keep business and trade flowing well in the districts where currencies change, taxes fluctuate, and languages and customs can cause an obstacle to the growth of Kudler.
For this change, Kudler will to turn to the help of technologies such as a software system that will manage the system internally, computer apps that consumers can download from their favorite markets. Scanners in stores and warehouses to keep track of inventory levels in real time for accurate accounts of what is on hand and what shelves need replenishing.
Smith Systems Consulting (Kudler Fine Foods, n.a) will handle Kudler's need for modular and scalable REMS. $50,000 has been allotted to hire this firm and their job is to help ensure that the right REMS system is chosen and maintained.
