A) Capacity and Size:

The capacity and size of our system in South Africa over the past few years was from an economy working at full capacity, the rising standards of living with close on 3.5 million homes have access to electricity since 1994. Now the capacity and size of our system is over 3.5 million homes having access to electricity. Eskom's output was more than 32 000MW.

B) Power Grid:

A Power grid is a main massive power station that distributes electricity to other sub-stations. Eskom is developing a national grid distribution system so that electricity will eventually reach all the people of South Africa.

C) Financial Implications:

1. Businesses are losing money.

2. Petrol Stations can't pump fuel.

3. Auto tellers cannot operate without electricity.

4. Company's need to invest capital to purchase generators.

5. Machinery in mines cannot work because there is power cuts so NO Coal NO electricity.

D) Load Shedding Affected Me:

1. No hot water in the mornings and afternoons to bath.

2. Can't warm my food.

3. Can't boil water for tea.

4. Can't put on lights at night when trying to do homework.

5. Can't watch my favorite programmes on TV.

6. Can't listen to the radio.

7. Can't play games and do homework on computer.

8. Can't charge my phone battery when it dies.

E) Effect on Society:

Load Shedding has a big effect on the society because peoples businesses are being closed, because they not making enough money. Profit margins are lower.

Restaurants & take-away's have to cook under extreme conditions. They have the odd emergency lights, but no extraction. They can't serve breakfast, lunches & Suppers.

The hit musical show "Lion King" was cancelled twice. They had to refund customers. One show payout was R250 000.00.

Criminals are having a field day because no electricity easier for crime.

People can't do what they do normally and some of them can't even plan their days and evenings because of the load shedding.
