Analysis and Interpretation:

1) Evidences indicating that a chemical change occurred in this experiment when the baking soda was mixed with the Vinegar it began fizzing. Also, when mixed together the transparent vinegar turned into a darker, non-transparent liquid.

Conclusions

2) The law of conservation is when the mass of the product is similar to the reactant in a chemical change. The law of conservation of mass is violated in Part 1 as it appeared because when the baking soda and vinegar was mixed, gas released into the air and making the mass of the mixture less.

3) The result for Part 2 was different from those in Part 1 because in Part 2, we had large plastic bag and twist ties to lock the gas released from the mixture inside the bag. The system in Part 1 was an open system. The system in Part 2 was a closed system. Both systems differ because for Part 1, the air was spread so that the gas was leaving the mixture into atmosphere. For part 2 it was a closed system because the air and gas stay only into the plastic bag.
