Digestive Process

Human need fuel to live and our fuel is the food we eat. But only getting the food into our mouth is the beginning of the process. The food need to broke down into chemicals that our body can use as fuel. The whole process is called digestion. Some of the organs involved in the digestion are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and liver between others. The digestive process can characterize in braking the food, absorbing and stool.

The first step in the digestive process began in our mouth. Were the food is partly broken down by the process of chewing and by the chemical action of the salivary enzymes. On the way to the stomach the food travel through the esophagus, that is a long tube that works as bridge between the mouth and the stomach. The esophagus uses rhythmic, wave-like muscle movements called peristalsis. This movements force the food to move from the throat to the stomach.

The food travel to the stomach where the food is churns and covers with a very strong acid. Then, after being in the stomach, food enters the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine were the muscular tube breaks down food using enzymes, that are release by the pancreas and the bile from the liver. In the duodenum, that it is the first part of the small intestine is responsible to continue the breaking-down process, while the jejunum and the ileum are in charge for the absorption of the nutrients and send into the bloodstream.

Once the nutrients have been absorbed and the leftover food residue liquid has passes into the small intestine, food moves onto the large intestine or colon. The colon is a 6-foot long muscular tube that connects the small intestine to the rectum. The colon is responsible for processing the waste that emptying the bowels. This process began with the food in a liquid state and ultimately is a solid form. After stool is in solid form is empties into the rectum. The rectum is the bridge between the colon and the anus. The rectum is responsible to send a massage to the brain that let the person kwon that is stool to be evacuated and hold the stool until evacuation happens. Last in the digestive process is the anus was the stool is evacuated.

The digestive process is how our bodies transform food into energy we need to survive. This process may take 30 hours to the disposal, but the time may vary between people. We can say that the digestive process is dividing in thee mayor parts, breaking the food, absorbing the nutrients and emerging the stool.
