Does Immigration Contribute to a Better America

The Population of the United States is estimated to be about 307,006,550 and virtually all the people in American society are either immigrants or the descendents of immigrants. Being that we all are part of this supposed melting pot of different cultures and creeds it amazes me that one of the growing concerns among Americans is the amount of immigrants entering the country both legally and illegally? Philippe Legrain, a Journalist, economist, and author of Immigrants: Your Country Needs Them and Open World: The Truth about Globalization states that immigration contributes to a better America as well as a better World. Many Americans make the argument that Immigration is partly responsible for the growing scarcity of jobs and government benefits. Many of the new immigrants to the United States are here seeking refuge from third world countries that are often engulfed in war, famine, ad poverty and are just in search of the same American dream that the rest of this countries citizens usually take for granted. So is it justifiable to say that these immigrant workers don't deserve their chance at happiness and peace or do they simply clutter up an already struggling economy that really can barely create opportunities for those who are struggling to make ends meet in there own home country. Is this not the land of the free? Doesn't the constitution of the united states state that all men are created equal and have the right to pursue their own goals and aspirations.

In my opinion immigrants make America more convenient they often come here in search of minimum wage jobs that are considered undesirable by the average American citizen, but many Americans need to stop and think to themselves what if the the Mexican workers who maintain my landscape in my neighborhood jus stopped coming because immigration has deported them or a new law wont enable them to obtain legal citizenship? What would we do? Many of use would say we would just pick up the slack and start taking care of our own small luxuries but whose to say that with the way you already live your life that you will have the time or the energy to complete these often tedious tasks.
