Environment Fundamentals

"We shall never understand the natural environment until we see it as a living organism. Land can be healthy or sick, fertile or barren, rich or poor, lovingly nurtured or bled white. Our present attitudes and laws governing the ownership and use of land represent an abuse of the concept of private property. (Brooks, 2009)."

For the purpose of this environmental fundamental paper the following objectives will be addressed. Define environmental science. How does the relationship between science and technology affect environmental problems and solutions in today's society? Why is the concept of environmental sustainability important, and why should it be studied? What are the historical patterns surrounding sustainable and unsustainable human interactions with the environment? In general, how do human values affect sustainability given current challenges facing society? After reviewing the research on the environment, how do environmental hazards affect human health?

Today the human species is the most important agent of environmental change on our planet. All over the world, forests are disappearing and agricultural lands are eroding. We are overpowering the planet with our growing population, transforming forests, prairies and deserts to meet our desires and needs. Evidence continues to accumulate that human induces climate change is putting the natural environment at risk.

Environmental science is defined as the interdisciplinary study of humanity's relationship with other organisms and the physical environment. Environmental science also covers a variety of disciplines such as biology, geography, chemistry, geology, physics, natural resources management, agriculture, engineering, law, politics, and ethics that society deals with in everyday life.

The relationship between technology and science is extremely important and affects both the environmental problems and solutions. This indicates that science and technology have a combination of good and bad effect as it offers a sustainable solution to environmental problems. As science and technology continue to progress, it shows how the environment is affected by these changes. These changes should thus be looked at to eliminate this effect.

Science and technology has made a serious impact on today's society and many people around the world have done great and bad things with it. For example the growing population is probably the most serious problems face by science and technology with approximately 313,914,040 million in the United States plays a difficult problem on fuel, air water supply and the earth, technology and environmental destruction - modern technology has given humanity unheard of power to control air, earth, and water.

Human needs- it is role of technology to produce the basic human needs such as food, shelter and clothing, but with the demands to produce natural resources such as water, land, air it has become a major problem.

Some possible solutions is society should realize that the natural environment is a energetic system that requires care and protection at all times since any negative change is difficult to turn around and become more conjunctions in whatever they do. In order to do this man has to prevent pollution, reduce wastes, use resource such as water and energy efficiently, manage natural resources, and educate the masses on the need to support community management and protect
