Your choices are:

1) Mozart, Don Giovanni

2) Puccini, Tosca

3) Saint-Saëns, Samson et Dalila

4) Beethoven, Fidelio

5) Berg, Lulu

If you would like to write on another opera, send me an email to discuss it by November 14.

In your paper, you must:

1) Open with a statement paragraph (150 words)

2) BRIEFLY summarize the plot (150 words)

3) Discuss THOROUGHLY the main issues of the opera as they may relate to gender, social class, politics, sex, family relations, religion, colonialism or exoticism (not all of these will be present necessarily) (750 words)
