Foundation of mythology

1. A myth can be described as a culture's or a person's belief in a specific subject matter; however this is not necessarily true because it cannot be proven. For instance, when an individual believes in urban legends that have been passed down from generation to generation such as Zeus the God of God's. The word myth is used in an academic context in the book Myth and Knowing for example, Plato a recognized philosopher used this word and described it as a "lie" and the "truth", he created myths from old myths and making them his own with true events. My definition of a myth would be as mentioned before is a belief in a certain subject that is not all true, but some people do believe in that. An example of a myth that I grew up with was, if I don't go to church every Sunday I would go to hell. Again, people believe that this might be true, yet at the same time there is no way of proving that this is true.

2. Myths around the world are often address similar themes, like the beginning of the world and the meaning of life because these are the things that matter to people no matter what background they come from or posses. Not everyone in this world have the same beliefs as such shown in religion. We all intend to belief whatever we are thought and shown as we grow up in our different cultures. Structuralist Claude Lévi-Strauss expresses similar sentiments about myth's functions when he postulates that myths serve to mediate conflicting or dualistic elements of society and life. Also conflicting natures of human beings are same around the world. Myths help mankind to make order out of chaos or explain things in nature that one cannot understand. Often, myths are based on ideas that affect all human beings, regardless of country, religious preference or race. Things like life and death, fear and anxiety, good and evil, make up the heart of mythological tales.

3. Belief, knowledge, mythology, and religion all share relationship because it all revolves around what one has gained through a lifetime. Belief is what one trusts in their own mind of what is right and wrong and knowledge is a term used what one theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, information and skills acquired education has been thought, life changing experiences, situations, and obstacles. Religion and mythology are unlike in aspects. Both religion and mythology are concepts that are a huge importance to a certain culture. Religion is a belief of rituals, morality and different experiences that one has gone through whereas mythology in this sense one is describing a system of myths which were used by a particular society at some particular time in human history. Very basic aspects of the world around us that myth explains are the course of the day and night or seasons, the mysteries of life and death, and the creation of everything.
