The behavior I've tried to change is to increase my exercising use and decrease in eating unhealthy foods. By doing this, my goal was to lose weight and maintain a good and healthy lifestyle. The reason why I wanted to change my behavior is because before I used to never exercise and eat anything in sight whenever and where ever. I used to exercise for about a good week straight and then just quit because I either saw no results or didn't care about my body and the effects and just pure laziness. I've gotten to a point in my life where people I didn't even know would ask me if I was pregnant. And running out of money because the clothes I have were starting to get small. One day, I looked in the mirror and was disgusted at myself and decided to go on a diet and start to exercise because I was getting sick and tired by the old fat Amanda and had to change something about my life. On January 3 (my birthday), I started to exercise and eat right and had a goal to achieve at the end of my transformation. I went on the elliptical for 20 minutes a day and a 5 lb weighted hula hoop for 20 minutes as well. I would also change up my routine and add push up or sit ups. When I was done exercising for the day I would calculate my calories and the distance and the amount of time I exercised on a calendar which has my goal at the end of 2 months.

My goal would fall under Esteem on Maslow's hierarchy of motives because it has to do with self-esteem, loving my body and me, confidence, being proud of who I am and how I look, respect of others, not taking what everyone says to heart, and respect by others, getting the care and support I need from my friends and family. During this experience I didn't come to any counter-motives because no one was really against me trying to make myself healthier. Maybe, fatty foods that made me hard to say no and go against my diet would be my counter-motive and laziness. But only I could make the decision to eat the food or not exercise. These will also fall under esteem because only I can make the decision for me no one else. I felt both intrinsically and extrinsically because I wanted to make myself feel good in the inside to maintain a healthy weight and body, and make me love me. But also, I wanted to look good when I go out in public. I wouldn't want to get judged by others. My goal involved behavioral activation system (BAS) because behavioral treatment primarily focuses on changing behaviors to address problems people may be experiencing. In my case, I would be exercising and eating healthy daily, to achieve a goal at the end of two months. I think my motives contributed heavily on my outcome because of the pressure of if I eat this food I'm not going to stop and just eating badly and cheat on my diet. If I become lazy and not exercise I'm just going to stay the way I am and not change to reach my goal and my outcome I wanted to receive.

How I went about trying
